Rose Rocco was born in Brooklyn, NY. She has
been married to Peter for 50 years, has three children and six grandchildren. The Rocco's moved to Hernando County
in 1987.
Rose Rocco is well known for her
Civic and Community involvement. She is the founder of Operation P.R.I.D.E., Inc., a non-profit organization that organizes
an annual countywide clean-up and promotes a recycling program. She was the Chairman of the Government Affairs Committee for
United Communities of Hernando County for several years, past officer of Business & Professional women, and is a member
of the Democractic Women's Club of Hernando County, Democractic Club of Hernando County, Wellington Democractic Club, Spring
Hill Kiwanis and various other civic and community organizations.
Rose was elected to the Board of County Commissioners in 2006 and currently is serving as its
First Vice-Chairman. Rose serves on the Transportation Disadvantaged Local Coordinating Board; Chairman of the
South Brooksville and Hernando Beach Community Initiatives Team (CIT); Vice Chairman of the Weeki Wachee Community Service
Organization (CSO) to support the Weeki Wachee Springs State Park; Rose served as Chairman of the Budget & Finance
Standing Committee; Rose is a Board Member of the Nationial Federation for the Blind Hernando East-Pasco Chapter and the New
Beginnings Leadership Council; Rose is a participant in the Mentoring Program at Westside Elementary School and the Helping
Hands Program at Spring Hill Elementary School; She is a member of the Withlacoochee Regional Water Supply Authority; member
of the Withlacoochee Regional Planning Council and serves as the Board's liaison to the Port Authority and the Southwest Florida
Water Management District.
